The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket) is a government agency that contributes to the creation of new enterprises, more growing enterprises and more strong regions - and consequently to promoting sustainable economic growth and prosperity throughout the country. Tillväxtverket has around 300 employees in 11 offices around the country.
Tillväxtverket aims to make things easier for anyone who wants to start, run and develop an enterprise. Women is a priority target group, as well as immigrants and young people. Tillväxtverket endeavours to ensure that laws and regulations are so straightforward and appropriate that anyone can consider setting up, running and developing an enterprise. Our role is to co-ordinate, spearhead and develop this work - in collaboration with ministries, government agencies and the business community. Tillväxtverket also promotes enterprise and entrepreneurship in the tourist industry. Tillväxtverket co-ordinates the work on the Swedish Regional Growth Programmes and is responsible for grants in the areas of transport, regional development and employment.
Tillväxtverket also administers Sweden´s eight Regional Development Fund Programmes for the period from 2007 to 2013 - programmes which are financed by the European Regional Development Fund. The programmes are intended to promote competitiveness and employment and are being carried out in close collaboration with regional Structural Funds partnerships.
