Their research and publications, spanning the academic disciplines of economics, management and entrepreneurship, have paved the way for a new generation of scholars and research on previously neglected sources and processes of entrepreneurship.

By showing and explaining how entrepreneurs are connected with the institutions, organizations, and geographies around them, they have inspired new, increasingly nuanced, and research-based approaches to public policy, aimed at fostering innovative entrepreneurship. Their pioneering research and promotion of technology transfer in different contexts have unlocked the entrepreneurial potential of universities and government bodies alike, in the process contributing to science-based innovation and entrepreneurial new venturing that would otherwise have remained dormant.
